6 yro girl and parents first day at WDW on 12/18/09. We have tickets to MVMCP same night. Should we go to AK during day?? We don't want to be too tired to enjoy MVMCP, but don't know way around MK. What would you suggest?

Hi Niki!  I agree that you don't want to wear yourselves out for the big night in the Magic Kingdom on your first day!

Animal Kingdom park is a good park to visit as you can just spend a few hours there then head back to your resort for a rest or nap in the afternoon.  Look over the attractions at the park and choose a few that you wish to experience.  I suggest a nice lunch at Flametree Barbecue and then head back to your resort.

You can enter the Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm with your Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party event ticket which makes it a good time to get the map and make a plan for the evening.  Grab a bite to eat at any one of the great quick service spots.  The lines for the attractions will start to thin out once the day guests leave and the party begins at 7:00pm.  You will want to find a good spot for the parade viewing....Frontierland is sometimes better then Main Street but it is also becoming more popular so just grab a front row wherever you can.  The fireworks will follow the parade.  If the parade is offered twice in one evening the second one will be easier to watch as many guests leave the park once the fireworks are over.

Don't forget to enjoy the hot cocoa and cookies offered through-out the park that night.  The atmosphere is so festive and with the snow on Main Street it makes this park the perfect place to get into the holiday spirit!
