HI! My 9 yro daughter and I will be visiting Walt Disney World in Feb 2015. I am trying to do Fast Passes and Dining reservations... I am overwhelmed. Neither of us have ever been so knowing what parks to do each day and what rides would be appropriate f

Hi April! At Walt Disney World there are so many amazing things to see and do, so I understand that you are feeling overwhelmed. Never fear! We here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel are here to help.
When planning a vacation I start with which parks we will be in on what days. We always try to do a day for each of the parks and an extra day at Magic Kingdom. I typically look up which park is scheduled for Extra Magic Hours and decide how I can maximize my time at each park. You can do this by going to the Disney World website and clicking on Park Hours & Calendars. Once you find your vacation dates you can start choosing which park you want on each day.

After I have my parks figured out, I start planning where we will eat in each park. We have family favorites, so we usually have an idea of where we will eat, but we love trying new things, so I will do a little research and fit in some new dining locations. I do this by reviewing the dining locations available and checking out the menus.

Next, I plan out FastPass+ selections and which rides to go on. Sometimes plans are hit-and-miss because you think your child will like a ride and they don't. I took my 5-year-old son on Dinosaur on our last vacation thinking that he would love it and he cried the whole ride. It might help to go to the Attractions page and look at height requirements as a starting point. You can also factor in your child's personal interests. Does your daughter love The Little Mermaid? Then she will probably love Under The Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid.

I am running out of space, but please stop by if you have any more questions. Have a magical first Walt Disney World vacation!

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
