Hi Sarah!
I am so happy to help you plan your magical trip to Walt Disney World Resort with little ones. With two little ones of my own, we have used the
Rider Switch program often and it is such an awesome program because it allows everyone in our group to enjoy the attractions on their "must-do" list, but the little one's don't have to wait in queues for attractions that they won't be enjoying!
You can choose to use Rider Switch with your FastPass+ reservation, but you don't have to. To use the program, simply go to the attraction queue entrance with your entire party, including the little ones who won't be riding, and ask the Cast Member to use Rider Switch. They will give you a Rider Switch lanyard to wear in the queue and direct you to enter the attraction queue. If you will be using a FastPass+ reservation, then redeem your reservation and enter the FastPass+ queue. Otherwise, you can enter the Standby queue to enjoy the attraction. As you approach the front of the queue, your Rider Switch lanyard will be exchanged for Rider Switch tickets, which you will hold while you are riding.
While the first group of Guests is waiting to enjoy the attraction, your little ones and the adults waiting with them can leave the attraction area and enjoy other areas of the theme park. I like to take my little one on an attraction that he will enjoy or use the opportunity to eat a snack or visit the Baby Care Center. Once the first group of riders finishes the attraction, the Guests in the second group of riders can take the Rider Switch ticket back to the attraction. This group can use the FastPass+ queue for the attraction when they use their Rider Switch ticket, even if the first group used the Standby queue for their ride!
Please let us know if you have any additional questions as you continue to plan your trip. T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
