We have an 8 yr old and a 3 yr old. We will probably need nap/down time. On a budget, what is your recommendation for a resort hotel that makes travel back and forth relatively simple and less time consuming? Value vs. Carribbean Beach or other?

    Pamela:

Because both Moderate and Value hotels use bus transportation at Disney, the fact that you have to take your child out of a stroller to ride the bus is the same for either choice....so time is what I'd scrutinize.

The campuses at the Moderate resorts (like Caribbean Beach) have multiple bus stops, probably one of the few cons that I hear most from guests concerning these hotels. Because of these stops, it can add as much as 10 to 15 minutes on a park trip depending on the time of day, especially if you have guests in wheelchairs or ECVs loading and unloading.

The Value resorts have one stop for loading and unloading, and to me, seem to run more buses because of the larger crowd of guests. The wait times both going to the parks and leaving was much shorter when I stayed at All-Star Movies in comparison to my stays at the moderates Port Orleans and Coronado Springs.

Although you might get a bus stop closer to your hotel with a Moderate, your commute time may be less time at a Value. If you're on a budget, I'd feel good about recommending the Value resorts, as the rooms are smaller, but with two children, they should be a fine fit and the theming is probably more fanciful to make a memorable trip for your kids.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
