Hi Julia! Welcome to planDisney, where we answer all of your Disney vacation planning questions.
You are speaking my language here, Julia. I am personally very sensitive to very loud noises, especially after going to a very loud concert a few years ago. Ever since, I wear earplugs at the movies, on certain rides that I know will be loud, and during
nighttime spectaculars. I made sure to purchase ones that simply muffle the sound but don't cancel it as I still want to enjoy what I'm experiencing! But they have been a lifesaver and it sounds like they will be necessary for your little one to enjoy his time at the
Walt Disney World Resort...and will also help to put your mind at ease!
There isn't a list of rides on which you can bring fitted noise-cancelation headphones. However, there shouldn't be a problem with your little one wearing these types of devices during most attractions. The exceptions would be high-speed thrill attractions on which they specifically ask you to remove hats (and Mickey and Minnie ears!), but I suspect that your child is probably not tall enough to ride these yet. If the attraction you are about to wait in line for seems faster than one of the slow-moving dark rides, simply ask the Cast Member outside of the entrance if your child will be allowed to wear them on the attraction. This way, you know before you wait in line. Of course, if he is allowed to wear them, you'll want to make sure that they are tightly secured. I have never had a problem with earplugs on any ride, but I understand that they may not offer the amount of protection you are looking for, and being a teacher, I understand that not all young ones particularly enjoy earplugs
inside of their ears!
Julia, when you visit the resort (soon!), you'll notice how accommodating and understanding the Cast Members are throughout the resort.
They truly are the magic of this wonderful place and go above and beyond to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. In case you haven't yet procured the device for your child, ensure that you do so before you arrive as they are likely not readily available at the resort.
