Hi Stephanie,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I had to put my educator hat on beside my Disney Parks Moms Panel hat for this one.
Given that I do not want your child's teacher coming after me for giving bad advice, I shall just provide a few thoughts! Check the school or district absentee policy before making a decision and then, once you know the specific dates of the trip, talk with your child's teacher about what work would be missed. Also check to make sure your child would not miss any special awards ceremonies or other school activities while gone. Of course, you could minimize time missed from school by going during a holiday. Check the school calendar to see when school might be closed in November (perhaps you already considered Thanksgiving?).
Since I am an educator, I avoid taking our girls out of school for vacations. Other classmates of theirs have certainly gone to the Walt Disney World Resort and on Disney cruises during the school year. My biggest hesitation with pulling our girls out of school for vacation is that they LOVE school and worrying about missed work would put a damper on our vacation. So, our family vacations have always been during their summer break. Having said that, November is a lovely time of year to go to the Walt Disney World Resort. The
Holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort are spectacular. I love
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party - Cinderella Castle shimmers, the characters are dressed in their festive holiday best and the holiday treats just make me happy.
Stephanie, taking my educator hat off, as I get older, I realize more intensely that life is short. Pick your dates and then take that vacation. You have memories to make!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
