Can a 3 yr old ride horses at the ranch?

Howdy Michele!  Thanks for the question!

Horse back riding at Fort Wilderness is limited to guests over 9 years of age, so unfortunately, your little one will have to wait a few years to participate in the trail ride program at Tri Circle D Livery.

With that being said, Tri Circle D Ranch offers pony rides and guests 2 years and older are welcome to ride as long as they are under 48" and less than 80 lbs.  My daughter still talks about her first "real cowgirl" adventure at Fort Wilderness!  After she was "saddled up"  her Dad held the rope and led her miniature horse, "Nemo", down the shady, winding paths of Tri Circle D Ranch, while I walked up ahead to snap pictures!  We love looking at the photos of this magical moment and to be honest, it was one of the best $5 I've ever spent!  Every time we visit Walt Disney World, my daughter can't wait to "Giddy Up" like a real Cowgirl at Fort Wilderness and she's already counting down the days until she's old enough to ride on the big horses at the livery!

So head 'em up and move 'em out, because your Walt Disney World vacation will be here before you know it!  Be sure to let us Moms know if you think of anything else!

    Happy Trails,
