I have a 12 yr old Autistic child.  He doesn't like loud noises or rides that are in the dark... Any ride suggestions would be very helpful thank you !

    Hi Bonnie,

At the entrance of every ride, you will find a list of warnings and information which help guests decide if a ride is appropriate for them to ride. This can be anything from height restrictions, physical restrictions and noise. Cast members are also posted at the front of the queue to answer any additional questions.

However, you may want to look at the ride information on the Disney website prior to your trip so you have an idea of which rides would work with your son. You can look at the description of each ride and then make the decision.

Some rides like the Hall of Presidents are dark because they are shown like a movie. You will find similar experiences in the countries around World Showcase that use movies to tell the story of their country. Other rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion are dark because the set the tone of the ride. Pirates has the added noise factor of "cannon balls" being fired between boats. The Tomorrowland Speedway is outdoors but the cars are loud.

One ride I would completely avoid is Stitch because it is in the dark and Stitch "pops" up at various times. This ride has scared many children.

There are plenty of other rides your son may enjoy like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Jungle Cruise, Primeval Whirl or Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Most of the rides can even be viewed on the internet or snippets on the Disney planning video. All of these can help you and your son make a decision about which ride to experience.

Also, reach out to the cast members at Guests with Disabilities. These cast members are super helpful.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
