My 9 yr daughter and I made our 1st WDW trip Nov 2015. It was more crowded than we'd hoped. We want to make our next trip either Dec 2016 or Jan 2017. We love Christmas but really want to hit low crowds. Are Jan crowds usually significantly lower than Dec?

    Hi Christie,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! The holiday season is my favorite time of year to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. All of the Parks and Resorts are festively decorated and overflowing with the spirit of the season! Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom Park also takes place during this time of year, and it is always a "must-do" for my family. The "snow" falling on Main Street, U.S.A., Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, and Holiday Wishes fireworks are guaranteed to make your visit enchanting!

Although it is a wonderful time of year to visit, it is a very busy time of year as well. In my experience, early December has been the ideal time to visit since the closer you get to the holidays, the more crowded the Parks and Resort become. That said, in mid to late January the crowds seem to be much more manageable than they are at any time during the month of December. Keep in mind that the holiday decorations start to come down soon after the New Year so if you want to enjoy them, I would plan to visit in early December or early January.

I hope this information helps. Please visit us again should you have any additional vacation planning questions!

    Magical Wishes,
    Susan
