Hi Jacklyn!
That is an excellent question!
So my daughter was 3 years old when she made her first trip to
Disney. My son was only 18 months on his first trip. My daughter is now 16 and my son is 12. Neither of them remember any of their Disney experiences until they were 5 years or older...
With the amount of money invested for a Disney vacation, you would want each of your party members to remember as much of their experience as possible. Therefore, my suggestion would be that
ages 5 and older would be the best time for your child to experience Disney.
Disney's Animal Kingdom offers a number of terrific experiences for children ages 5 and up. Some of the most memorable
attractions for my kids were:
Affection Section: an area where kids can get up and close with animals. A nice petting zoo.
The Boneyard: A Dig Site that my children could literally stay in for hours.
DinoLand U.S.A: enjoy some of the carnival games. Fun for all ages!
Kilimanjaro Safaris: probably the most thrilling experience for kindergartners at Animal Kingdom
And that's just the attractions. There are also very cool animal feeding sessions throughout the park, performances, and I can't forget, Disney's unparalleled parades!
Hope this provides some insight. Have a magical time at
Disney!
Terry
