When I was young, Disney had tours for teens to take - on our next trip, the kids will be 15, 13, and 8. Wondering if there are any "special" activities (other than kids clubs) for the older kids so DH and I can have a bit of alone time in the W

    Hi there, Sarah!

Currently, Walt Disney World Resort offers a variety of family activities and fun experiences. With the thought of maintaining Guest safety ever-present, Disney works to ensure that the activities it offers are for those youths accompanied by at least one grownup. Children are permitted to be unsupervised at each Resort arcade and at the Resort pool. The options for unchaperoned children are fairly limited.

The tours now have age limits; this is to ensure that the participant can handle the amount of walking involved. Keys to the Kingdom, for example, has a minimum age of 16 years.

As you mentioned, for those Guests under 12, you'll find Children's Activity Centers at each one of the Deluxe Resorts on the property. Your eight-year-old is welcome, obviously, to go enjoy video games, crafts, movies, and more, all under the supervision of trained babysitters.

There are also a variety of local babysitting services available to hire. One of the most popular is Kid's Nite Out. Again, however, that service is good for children 12 and under. You might consider calling them to ask who they recommend if you would like someone to come act as a sitter for your children. They can be reached at 800-696-8105.

You might want to ask your Resort concierge about the evening's Movie Under the Stars at your home Resort. This is an onsite nightly activity that might afford you a few hours of adult time as your children watch a Disney film and enjoy some of the pre-show entertainment provided by the Cast Members.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
