Can you take a yoga mat from the fitness center to do yoga elsewhere on the ship?

    Namaste, Shaintel!

Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your thoughtful question – I hope you have an upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation to look forward to which prompted it. So much is offered onboard during your voyage, including an array of fitness classes and equipment at the Fitness Center.

I spoke with a friendly Crew Member who confirmed that typically this equipment is not available for official rental nor allowed to be removed from the fitness center area. However, we both agree that you should consult with the specific Crew Members onboard working in the fitness center and spa area for exact policies and permissions for your specific sailing.

There are many places to find solace and relaxation onboard on your own, Shiantal. One of my favorite cruise rituals is to sneak out of our stateroom early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise on the top deck, often with a specialty coffee from Cove Café. It’s blissfully peaceful when the ship is so quiet. Whether we are pulling into a special port or enjoying an uncharted day at sea, the views are spectacular. Throughout the day when the ship starts to wake up with more Guest activity, I find the far aft and forward decks (often in an adults-exclusive area) to be spacious and relaxing with less noise. If you chose to find similar space for your own yoga practice, I suggest packing some yoga socks with grips on the bottom in case you are unable to borrow a proper yoga mat; the decks are often slick even when not wet.

While not active yoga movement, I also find great solace in the Rainforest Room experience. You can purchase a day or length-of-cruise pass at Senses Spa when you board the ship, and then enjoy a peacefully hidden space with various forms of water and heat therapy for self-care. If you treat yourself to a pass, I know you’ll find the steam treatments, rainforest aromatherapy shower, and heated loungers to be quite healing. This experience quiets my mind much like a full yoga session, and I hope you can try it on a Disney cruise.

Please let us know what other questions you have as you plan a magical Disney Cruise Line vacation. We’d love to help you make the most of this experience or share more of our own tips for deep relaxation throughout the vacation.

    Wishing you peace at sea,
