Elizabeth, how wonderful that you have booked our first trip! Yeah! And yes, there is child care available, so get ready to begin planning your special date.
The Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht and Beach Club, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, and Polynesian all have on-site child care centers. Our sons have gone to The Neverland Club at the Polynesian, and absolutely loved it! The theming of it is so magical. When guests arrive, it is the bedroom from Peter Pan, and the children then "fly"(actually climb) through the window to get to Neverland where they can participate in many different kinds of activities; dinner is provided as well. When we begin planning trips, my guys (ok, not my oldest anymore) always ask, "What night do we get to go back to Neverland?" I think that speaks highly about the center since of all the things to do while at WDW, that is still always a priority for them. If you are unsure about which facility to use, you may want to pick the one closest to where you plan to dine; the number to make reservations for child care is 407-WDW-DINE.
