Hi Katherine,
Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. How wonderful to be visiting Walt Disney World with your grandson for his birthday! Let me offer you some ideas on having a magical celebration. There are so many ways to have a
customized celebration at Walt Disney World!
First, be sure to pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for your grandson. These are available free of charge at Guest Relations at the theme parks and many other locations at Walt Disney World. You can also pick up "I'm Celebrating" buttons for the rest of your party. When you wear these buttons around Walt Disney World, it is so much fun to hear cast members and other guests alike wishing your grandson a happy birthday! While no extra magic is guaranteed, you never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on your vacation. When wearing a birthday button, my daughter received a huge cupcake after her meal at The Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom. She was so thrilled!
I also suggest that you note on any dining reservation that you make that you are celebrating your grandson's birthday. Again no magic is guaranteed, but it might happen. Using the link I provided above, you can see that there are many options for birthday cakes at Walt Disney World. You can order a customized cake by calling 407-827-2253. There are also simple chocolate and vanilla cakes available without advance notice at most table service restaurants at Walt Disney World.
I also think that it is great to celebrate your little one's birthday by letting him make the choices for the day. If you can, let him decide which theme park to visit, and which attractions to experience. He will likely love being in charge for the day!
Have a great time planning your magical vacation Katherine, and please let us know if you have any further questions!
