I'm happy to share that Walt Disney World is very accommodating of people with all types of needs. There is a page on their website dedicated to
Accessibility at Walt Disney World Resort which contains a variety of helpful information as you prepare for your trip.
Guests with mobility needs have a wide range of services available to them from dedicated parking to transportation accessibility and of course, attractions accessibility. Most lines are able to accommodate a standard size wheelchair, and there will be a friendly Cast Member at the entrance to each line to assist you with any questions or additional needs you may have. There are different accessibility tools available for certain attractions as well. I encourage you to either familiarize yourself with the tools in advance of your trip so you know what to expect or ask the Cast Member at each attraction.
One feature that I really find helpful is that the list of attractions at each of the theme parks can be filtered according to the specific accessibility tool you need, such as a
dedicated load and unload area, a
Wheelchair Access Vehicle (WAV) allowing you to stay in your chair for the attraction, a
Transfer Access Vehicle (TAV) allowing you to transfer from your chair to the attraction vehicle, or a
Transfer Device helping transfer you from your chair to the attraction vehicle seat. I can assure you that the Cast Members are dedicated to the comfort and safety of all Guests, including those with accessibility needs, so rest easy knowing you'll be well cared for.
I've traveled many times with family members who have mobility needs, and we like to use
Lightning Lane Passes to help minimize wait times. Lightning Lane Multi Pass has been the best value for us. It allows you to pre-book up to three attractions in advance of your trip, giving you access to the Lightning Lane line for a shorter wait time than the stand-by line. Then, once you've used your first selection, you can book another one and keep going throughout the day. Lightning Lane Single Pass is available for some of the most popular attractions not included in the Multi Pass. You can even use both of these together if you'd like. Lightning Lane Premier Pass is the ultimate in Lightning Lane Passes, giving you access to every Lightning Lane attraction in the park of your choosing for the day you select. You don't even have to book the return times; you can go at your leisure.
