Aloha, Kathy!
Thank you for sending your question to planDisney. I'm so excited to hear that you are thinking about staying at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. My family and I love this resort with its lush gardens that may make you feel as if you are actually in the South Pacific to the longhouses (buildings) that now have subtle nods to the movie
Moana.
At the resort, the Great Ceremonial House is where the restaurants are located as well as the monorail. The longhouses that are closest to it are Rarotonga, Nuie, and Tonga (the suites are located here). Similarly, Tokelau, Somoa, Aotearoa, and Fiji aren't too far away either. If you'd like to stay in a club-level room with concierge service, those rooms are in the Hawaii longhouse, which is also close by. To better visualize the layout of the resort, you may want to explore the
map of it. However, I don't think of it as an overly large resort. My parents stayed at the resort several times when they were in their 70s too and found it very easy to get around.
To request a specific building, I'd suggest calling the
resort directly to make your request. There are no guarantees, but they will certainly try to honor your preferences. I also wanted to share with you there is construction happening near the Aotearoa and Fiji longhouses, which may result in some noise during the day.
As you continue planning your trip, I thought you may want to look over the
Special Offers page because you might find that you might be able to find a discount for the resort. If you find you have more questions about your trip or the resort, please let us know.
Wishing you a magical trip!
