Trick or treat, Madelyn! Thanks for ringing our doorbell here at planDisney. I've got my candy bowl of answers ready as you plan a future visit to Walt Disney World during
spooky season. Now, I've picked out my costume for this year (I'm going as the Headless Horseman) and I know what candy is in my bowl today, but I'm not too sure what will be happening in five years time. That being said, I can rely on history and the present as I gaze into my crystal ball to assist you with your inquiry. Grab a flashlight and join me on a trip around the neighborhood as we collect an answer to your question!
The
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party we know and love today traces its roots to the mid 90's when it was a one day affair on Halloween. Things have changed a lot since then, and parties are now being held on select evenings beginning in August and running through October. There are some cornerstones of the party that I believe will probably still be around in five years time, though some reimagining is possible to keep them fresh. These include Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular. Other highlights of the party include trick-or-treating, special ride overlays, and guests attending in costume, and I imagine these offerings will continue in the future as well.
The layout of Magic Kingdom itself will be shifting in the coming years, so I'm excited to see how the planned opening of
Piston Peak National Park and the continued development of
Villains Land will shape Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Will there be more roaming characters out and about? What specialty entertainment will be added with these expanded lands? We don't know quite yet, and that's the most exciting part! Five years from now we'll look around Magic Kingdom and say everything is better than ever, and we'll have some amazing new wonders around the park to prove it. As attractions, experiences, and entertainment change, so too will this special event, and that, my dear Madelyn, is what they call progress.
We got
a teaser for Mickey's Not-So-Scary offerings on the Disney Parks Blog on August 3rd this year, so I recommend keeping tabs there to see what changes are announced for next year and the following years leading up to your visit. The truth is that anything can happen, anything can change, and Disney loves to surprise its guests with innovative new offerings and spine-tingling entertainment. Who knows what kind of rumpus they'll put on for Halloween in 2031!
