Hi there, Deepa!
Ahoy! Your adventure with Captain Mickey will be here before you know it and I know you must be eagerly anticipating the fun that you will have! I am so excited for you to experience one of my favorite stops –
Castaway Cay; my family ALWAYS looks forward to that fun, yet relaxing day…clean beaches, clear-blue water AND your favorite Characters…you simply can’t beat it!
Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Hopefully my experience can help guide you in making the best decision when it comes to preserving those memories that you will undoubtedly make while onboard (and on land, too)! We have been cruising with Captain Mickey for 7 years (!!) now and have quite a few voyages under our belt, and on each one we have solely utilized our iPhones and the
onboard photographers to capture those memories for us! We found that we are so used to using our iPhones for photos that we are most comfortable with them for capturing photos. Plus, since you will want to have your iPhone on you to access the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, your camera and video will be at your fingertips! Bringing anything more than that was just too cumbersome a thought for us and looking back, I know we would still be reaching for our phones…even if we had other options with us! It’s just so easy and accessible that it makes the most sense for us!
Now, the onboard photographers do an incredible job of getting some really good photos! Yes, these are usually posed photos, but they will capture photos during scheduled character greetings, before and after dinner in front of a unique backdrop and you’ll even find the photographers traipsing through the sand getting beach shots at Castaway Cay! We will typically make a photo book while onboard with the photos captured by the photographers which makes for a great souvenir of our vacation!
I hope this information is helpful to you, Deepa! I know you are going to have the best time while making some incredible memories! Please come back with any last-minute questions you may have!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
