Years ago my mom was able to have some characters call and wish us happy birthday. I would love to do this for my daughter this year. Are there any services where Mickey or Minnie or even some princesses will call and wish her a happy birthday?

    Howdy Shannon!

Welcome back to planDisney. There is no better place to spend your birthday than at The Most Magical Place on Earth. There are quite a few ways to help celebrate a birthday while you are there, and I would love to tell you more about them, but first, let’s get to your question.

I see that you were able to receive a character call previously. Unfortunately, this service is not currently available for Walt Disney World guests. The good news is that there is a fun new experience available to guests staying at the resorts called Hey Disney. In your resort room, you will find an Alexa device (Mickey ears included) that is powered by the magic and wonder of Disney. One of the coolest features is that you can ask it to sing Happy Birthday in the voices of many of your favorite Mickey and pals characters. You can also ask it to wake you up with character voices, tell you a joke, or share a Disney story. My kids love to ask for jokes by Goofy. You can also request items for your room, such as pillows or towels. Of course, as a planDisney panelist, one of the coolest features is being able to help with your planning. You can ask it questions like “When does the Magic Kingdom open?” and so much more.

Alrighty, so one of the best ways to celebrate your birthday is by requesting a Birthday Celebration button from a friendly cast member at your resort or at guest services in the parks. This is a great way to let cast members know it’s your birthday. You might even find a little extra magic while you’re in line for a ride. You also never know when a little pixie dust might come your way as well. Oh and be sure to let your servers know whenever you sit down to dine, they usually have a little bit of magic to share as well.

Shannon, I hope this helps with your birthday planning and that you and your family have a magical time visiting Walt Disney World. Please stop back by planDisney anytime you have a question. We’re always happy to help.

    See ya real soon,
    Robert
