Hey there, Maryna, and welcome to planDisney!
I'm thrilled to hear that you're planning a visit to Magic Kingdom with your family! My kids are just about the same age as yours, and it's such a joy to visit Walt Disney World with them at this stage. They're fully immersed in the magic, plus they're finally tall enough (and brave enough) to take on some of Disney's biggest thrills! As a mom of mixed-height kids, I know what it's like to navigate height differences in Disney World. So let's jump right in and get straight to your question!
Maryna, I'm not surprised that your son is ready to enter the grid. My 8-year-old recently experienced
TRON Lightcycle / Run for the first time, and she was instantly enamored. However, I understand that you're also traveling with a younger child, and I know how that can complicate your logistics.
Per Disney policy,
your 8-year-old is old enough to queue and ride alone. However, if you would like to accompany him through the
Lightning Lane Single Pass line, you will need to purchase a Lightning Lane pass for each person who enters the queue. Additionally, you should know that your little one could be turned away at the entrance if she doesn't meet the 48" height requirement.
I know this probably wasn't the answer you were hoping for, Maryna, but I do have some good news! Magic Kingdom is home to several thrilling attractions, and you can enjoy many of them as a family. I suggest purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass for all three of you and focusing on attractions that you can ride together. To satisfy your big kid's adrenaline craving, try
Tiana's Bayou Adventure and
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (expected to reopen sometime in Spring 2026). The height requirement for each of these attractions is just 40 inches, so your daughter may be able to ride, too!
If your son is still itching to ride a major rollercoaster, don't forget
Space Mountain! This fast and furious ride through space is eligible for Lightning Lane Multi Pass - so just book the experience for all three of you, and you and your daughter can both accompany him through the line. Then, you can wait with your daughter while he blasts off into the dark!
I hope this information is helpful, Maryna, and that your visit to Magic Kingdom is as magical as it is thrilling! If you have any other planning questions, you know where to find us right here at planDisney!
See ya real soon,
Allison
