2 year olds & characters: as I recall this is the age where kids get excited to meet them and freak out at the last moment. Is there a setting that is better for this age? Character meals or park character spots?

Hi, Lauren! You're spot on with our experience with little kids. When our youngest son was 2 years old, the characters had a bit of a Monet quality to them. He really liked watching them from afar, but when he got up close to them, he felt betrayed.

We would watch a lot of the meet and greet areas from beyond the entrance queue for them. He'd watch family after family go up to the characters, hug 'em and get their pictures taken with 'em. Eventually, he started telling us he wanted to "huugh" the characters and we'd get in line. He'd think he was all brave for being within the same 10 sq. foot radius so we let him go with it. Our pictures show him on the outer wrung of the shot. The best part is what he remembers though: that he wants to hug every single character now.
