Teens enjoying a Dole Whip

My 13 year old is going to Walt Disney World in October with family and friends. I have made her an authorized user on my Disney Visa card with a card in her name and all. Will student ID be an acceptable form of ID when using the card in Disney?

    Welcome to planDisney, Bridget!

What a wonderful experience your daughter is about to enjoy! A trip to Walt Disney World with family and friends is the perfect way to experience the magic.

I, too, am a Disney Premier Visa Cardholder, and also made my tween/teen kids authorized users on my account as well. It's a great way to give parents a bit of relief, knowing that their children will be able to pay for meals and other necessities while traveling without them.

If ID is needed at any time, a student ID will be just fine. Keep in mind that not all adults have a drivers license, so alternative forms of identification are used often. As a high school teacher, I chaperone our senior class trip to Walt Disney World each spring, and many of our students only travel with student ID; all has been just fine.

Don't forget to get your Disney Rewards Card and load it up with Disney Reward Dollars, too, so that your daughter can spend them throughout the parks and resorts. That's our favorite way of enjoying something extra at a meal or taking home a precious souvenir that we may have otherwise skipped. Add that to discounts enjoyed as a Disney Visa Cardmember, and she'll be touring like a pro!

Finally, be sure that both you and your daughter download the super-handy My Disney Experience mobile app so you can keep track of plans and, if they opt to get them, you'll be able to see her Disney PhotoPass Service photos (a great way to witness her fun from afar) almost as soon as they take them!

As you plan additional details of your daughter's upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, Bridget, be sure to send additional questions our way. We love to help!
