Hi Melodie
Walt Disney World is an AMAZING place for Guests with special needs. One of my sons has Cerebral Palsy so I'm very familiar with your concerns & wanting to plan ahead. Great idea - the more you know before you go the more time you'll have to just relax, have fun and be a family without doctor's visits and therapies.
I recently answered a question for another guest that I think you'll find very helpful - click
here.
When my second son was born, we used a twin stroller for both boys until their toes started dragging the ground. Then we had to use my older son's special needs stroller. My youngest son enjoyed the benefit of being able to stay in the stroller with my older son until we boarded attractions or was able to stay in it during shows. I found this to be extremely helpful and I know that you will too.
Cast Members are awesome with special needs children but I have also found them to be equally as incredible with siblings of special needs kids. I think they recognize that siblings are deserving of attention too. I love that because as hard as we try to keep things equal there are times when my older son does require more attention. So both of your sons will be able to enjoy things together.
I'm not sure what time of year you are visiting but remember Florida can be hot and humid. Make sure you take your son's AFOs off and give his legs and feet a little break. My son always enjoys letting his feet breathe and get a nice little massage. Yes I also end up massaging 4 little feet but I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns during your planning. I'm honored to assist you! Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
