Hi Samantha! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
You must be very excited to visit the Walt Disney World Resort with your
little one in just a few days! The toddler/preschool years are such a fun time at "The Most Magical Place on Earth." Watching the faces of my kiddos as they saw their favorite
Characters for the first time was the absolute best! I remember standing on Main Street, U.S.A. with my son in my arms as Mickey Mouse rode by one morning. The joy as he waved and yelled Mickey's name was overwhelming ... so much so that I started crying. I couldn't help myself! It was so special.
My daughter developed the exact same fear when she was 3-years-old, so I understand your concern! While I don't know for certain where all of the automatic and non-automatic flushing toilets are at the Walt Disney World Resort, I can tell you what we do to help. We discovered that if you cover the sensor in some way by placing an item over it (like a toilet seat cover or toilet paper), the sensor won't flush. You can also hold or hover your hand in front of it (you don't have to actually touch it) to prevent it from flushing. My little one's fear is that it will flush with her on it, plus the loud noise of it. By showing her that it was covered, then proving that it wouldn't flush this way, she was fine. It took a couple of tries and a few tears, but once she saw for herself that it was safe, we haven't had any issues since. We use this same method in airports, restaurants, and any other public restrooms now!
Hopefully this will help your kiddo, too! Have a wonderful vacation, Samantha, and please let us know if you have any other questions.
