Hi Deidre!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited that you sailed by with your question about your upcoming Disney Cruise. With the New Year upon us, you can really start counting down until the
on-deck celebration as you head to sea for an adventure filled with nonstop fun and excitement!
At dinner tonight, my husband and I were talking with our boys about the highlights of our year and my five-year-old commented that he was so proud that he was brave enough to go on the waterslide at
Castaway Cay! On previous trips he was always a little timid of trying it, even with lots of persuasion from us and his brother, but he never took the plunge…until this last time. And, boy did he love it! He most definitely had on a life vest when he swam out there with his brother and my husband and in fact, while he can swim well for this age, I would not allow him to go without one. We even make his six-year old brother wear one as well. While they do have a life vest station right by the entrance to Pelican Plunge, I recommend getting one early in the day and holding on to it for your time at the beach because you never know when you may need or want one. We always find that our boys swim so hard when at the beach that sometimes slipping on a life vest makes everyone’s day a little easier (especially mom and dad’s).
Did you know that you can also check your little one into Scuttle’s Cove, the Youth Club on Castaway Cay?? My boys love going there to play with their new friends and their favorite counselors and my husband and I will take advantage of that time and visit the adult-exclusive beach!
Wishing you a magical and memorable adventure!
Stephanie
