My 5 year old son has a peanut, tree nut, sesame, watermelon and cucumber allergy and i am looking for some nut free treats like mickey shaped cookies or a fun cupcake so he doesn't feel left out as we are going with a large group.

Hey there, Kathleen. Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I bet you are getting so excited for your trip to Walt Disney World, it will be here before you know it.

I am so pleased to tell you that there are so many treats that your son will be able to enjoy while you are on vacation. Food allergies are taken very seriously at Walt Disney World and the allergy friendly offerings are abundant! I wanted to mention that when you dine at Quick Service or Table Service dining locations, be sure to mention your son's allergy when you arrive. When you are dining at Table Service locations, the chef will actually come to your table to speak with you about your son's allergy and discuss what can be on the menu for him. If you are dining at all-you-care-to-enjoy locations, the Chef will actually walk the buffet with you and point out safe menu options. I've seen it numerous times and it just makes me so happy to see how much time is spent with each family and how serious food allergies are taken. Did you know that every snack cart located throughout all of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks is equipped with an allergy food binder? These binders list out every product that cart sells with ingredients and food allergy warnings. It's an amazing tool used to help keep Guests safe! If you are still concerned about your son's safety during your vacation, you can always reach out to the Special Dietary Request team and they'll be more than happy to help provide you with more information. Because your son has multiple food allergies you might find it helpful to reach out to them and have them set up some dining options for you ahead of time. They just ask that you contact them at least 14 days prior to your arrival.

When it comes to snacks, your son is going to be in good hands because Walt Disney World has him covered. My favorite treat, and one that is nut free is the Mickey Ice Cream Bar that you can find all over the parks. Also, my favorite snack to grab during the nighttime firework show is churros and those are nut free too. Also, funnel cakes, dole whips, Mickey-shaped pretzels and much more will be calling his name! I have no doubt your son will be amazed at all of the goodies he's able to indulge in.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. If you have any other questions, I'd love for you to come back and ask me. Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
