My 3 year old son has long hair, and during our last trip to WDW he was repeatedly called "princess" by the cast members. I love that they are greeting my child in a special way, but do you have any tips to make it more obvious to the CM that he

    Hi Kimberly,

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.  I'm sorry to hear that your son has been mistakenly called princess by Cast Members and I can understand your concern.  All children should be given special attention by the Cast Members, but the attention should be positive for everyone.

I can offer a few suggestions to ensure this mixup doesn't happen again.  First I would suggest to purchase a pair of Mickey Ears for your son to wear around the park.  Have him choose his favourite pair of ears; make it fun for him and then it should be easier for the Cast Members to look past his long hair.  You could also get him a celebration button, available at guest services.  There are generic "I'm celebrating" buttons and when he gets the button the Cast Member will write his name on the button.  Cast Members often look at these buttons for a more personal greeting, so instead of using the term princess, he will be greeted by his name.

Another option would be a bit of a splurge but you could treat your son to a pirate makeover at The Pirates League.  Your son will have several choices of Pirate looks to choose from.  Walking around Walt Disney World Resort as a Pirate he will surely be recognized as a PIRATE, not a princess.  He can also wear the accessories and bandana for the rest of the vacation to ensure he be identified as a pirate, not princess.

I hope my suggestions help KImberly.  Please let me know if you have any other questions, I would be happy to help.  I truly hope your next experience at Walt Disney World Resort will be magical.
