I took my own “love bug” to stay at the
All Star Movies Resort!
You’ve probably heard that there are preferred rooms close to the food court and pool. So I’m sure that when I requested the Herbie the Love Bug section that the Cast Member noted “likes to walk” on my reservation.
Actually, the Love Bug section wasn’t that far from the resort’s amenities and we had our own car which we parked close to our building. After Check In, the magic began and it was all worth it.
As we approached the Love Bug section, my son saw the larger than life wrenches and racing flags adorning the buildings. His eyes were already wide-eyed by the time we reached Herbie’s Winner’s Circle. Picture your child running up to this car and…hugging it!
In fact, I just realized that sitting atop my desk is a picture of my son proudly patting his friend, Herbie. This car was used in the Magic Kingdom parades until 1990. If you aren’t staying at this resort, stop by to visit this famous car.
My son had to greet Herbie each morning and say good night each evening. Tire tracks in the cement were due to Herbie’s escapades while my “love bug” was sleeping or so…he dreamed. To see his excitement over the “newly” made tracks each morning was magical indeed. Inside the rooms, your fan will find Herbie posters and lots of racing décor.
Next up, lunch at Downtown Disney’s Planet Hollywood. Inside this restaurant, you’ll discover another Herbie and he has his headlights on. This car was used in the 1980 film and hangs from the ceiling.
Finally, you’ll want to visit Hollywood Studios for the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Herbie makes an appearance in the show. Around the corner from the show is another photo-op with a Herbie car.
I hope your son finds the magic of Herbie during his visit at WDW!
