Hi Lisa, welcome to planDisney!
I see you doing a hard thing. I honestly don't know if I could send my child to Walt Disney World Resort without me. This chaperone even comes with her own collection of Minnie ears, haha! But seriously, you're doing a great job preparing your son for his Disney adventures. I understand he already has his own
My Disney Experience account, which is an important first step to maximizing the magic on his park days. Purchasing
Disney Genie+ service is another great way to maximize the magic because it gives Guests access to Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks.
Guests over the age of 13 may create their own My Disney Experience account; however, only Guests over 18 may add a payment method to their account. You've come to the right place, though, because I'm going to give you two options for purchasing Disney Genie+ service on your son's park days.
Option 1: Any adult that is connected to your son as
Family and Friends in My Disney Experience can purchase Disney Genie+ service for him on his park days, even if they are not on the trip with him. Disney Genie+ service can be purchased any time after midnight on each park day via the Tip Board of the
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's home page --> Tip Board). Part of the process asks you to confirm your party, which is where the adult will click the box by your son's name to complete the purchase. I recommend purchasing by 6:45 a.m. so your son can book his first Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction at 7:00 a.m. Once the initial purchase has been made, your son can book his own Genie+ Lighting Lane attractions throughout the day.
Option 2: Your son can log in to a parent's My Disney Experience account to purchase Disney Genie+ service, as long as his name appears on that account's
Family and Friends List. I've similarly logged into my mother-in-law's My Disney Experience account to download Disney PhotoPass pictures connected to a Memory Maker purchase on her account. This option requires faith, trust, and perhaps some pixie dust, so I'll let you decide what works best for your family.
Another feature requiring payment in the My Disney Experience mobile app is
mobile food and beverage ordering. This is not a problem, though, because quick-service dining locations also accept cash payments at the register.
In case your son forgets to tell you, he thinks you're a great mom and appreciates all you do for him!
Plan magic; planDisney.
