If my 9 year old son decides at the last minute that he doesn't want to do the tower of terror, can he simply wait for us to complete the ride or can we do a child swap for s child his age?

Hello Ann-Marie!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

As a father of a little girl who sometimes panics before getting on Dumbo the Flying Elephant, I am well aware of the trials and tribulations, or second guesses that happen once in line for an attraction.

Fortunately, the Rider Switch Service at Walt Disney World Resort does not concern itself with the age or reason for a Guest's unwillingness to ride, simply a desire to allow those who do wish to ride the opportunity.

If you believe that your son will have cold feet on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™(and he might, as it is dark, scary, fast and creepily-themed) then I recommend that you speak with a Cast Member before you enter on the possibility of obtaining a Rider Switch Pass. If your son(and you) are comfortable with him waiting in the attached Gift Shop at the end of the ride on his own, a Cast Member will escort him to a side exit instead of entering the "doomed elevator".

With the Rider Switch Service, you should be able to wait together in line and if your son wishes to back-out, one member of your party can wait with him while the rest of your party experiences the ride. Then the other party will be able to use the Rider Switch Pass to gain access to the FastPass+ Queue.

Sometimes Cast Members will ask for you to wait in a designated area, so I suggest that you explain your situation to find the ideal solution.

    Have a TERROR-rific Vacation!
