Hello there, Nicholas!
It sounds like the force is strong with you and your son. My husband is also force-sensitive, and watching him build his first lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge brought pixie dust to both of our eyes. The whole experience restored balance in the Galaxy.
Based on the hologram message you transmitted, you’ll want to select two builders when you make your reservation. The number of builders is equal to the number of lightsabers that your party will construct. I double-checked with a friendly Cast Member, and they shared that you’ll be fine as long as you are accompanying your son during the experience and reserved two builders in one reservation.
Nicholas, I have a few tips for you before you arrive at Savi’s Workshop. First, make sure you check in to the experience 15 minutes before your reservation time. We found that it was helpful to have this time to choose our path. Next, you may want to look into or discuss what hilt theme you're interested in before you arrive. Will you both follow the path of “Peace and Justice,” or will one of you decide to take the path of “Power and Control”? My husband is somewhat indecisive, and it was difficult for him to make the decision on the spot. Finally, after you build your lightsaber, you may want to stop in
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities to see if you can find any rare kyber crystals.
Let me know if you’re looking for any other Star Wars-themed recommendations.
May the magic be with you!Melanie
