Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Rosanna.
I’m so sorry to hear about your son’s injury. I had to navigate
Walt Disney World Resort in a walking cast during spring break a couple of years ago and while it was definitely inconvenient, it was manageable. If your son is on crutches, I would strongly recommend using a wheelchair for getting around the Parks and the hotel. You’ll find
wheelchairs available for rent in each of the
Theme Parks and
Disney Springs, and you may be able to request one for use at the hotel, too. For the Theme Parks, wheelchairs cannot be reserved in advance, are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and must be returned at the rental counter prior to leaving the Park (so make sure he also has his crutches). Just ask the concierge at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for information about how to acquire a wheelchair for use at the hotel during your stay.
One other suggestion is to make sure you have some way to protect his cast from getting wet. During the summer, you can expect a rainstorm pretty much every afternoon. Having a bag or plastic cover for the cast will be essential for those moments, but it will also come in handy for water rides like
Splash Mountain at
Magic Kingdom Park or
Kali River Rapids at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
