Our 5 year old son is autistic. Last time we went to Disney we ended up leaving due to him just unable to wait in the lines. On our way out we were stopped by lady who worked for Disney to let us know that due to his special needs their was options. Ideas?

Welcome to planDisney, Amanda, I am so happy you found us to ask your questions.

I am so sorry that your last visit to Disneyland was not as enchanting as you would have liked. I hope that I can help ease your mind a bit and make this upcoming trip a little more enjoyable for your whole family.

I'm happy to share that there is a wonderful service for guests who, due to their disabilities, are unable to wait in traditional queues. This is called the Disability Access Service (DAS)! There are some changes coming to DAS this fall, and they're all for the better! Soon, you'll be able to schedule a video chat with a Cast Member up to 30 days prior to your trip to inquire about the program and get everything all set up if it's deemed that this will be the best way to meet your family's needs. You'll also be able to select up to two attractions per day to arrange prior to your trip with DAS Advance planning. Disney also recently announced that Guests will be able to make DAS plans within the Disneyland mobile app, too, which will be super convenient! You might also check out the Services for Guests with disabilities.

Thanks so much for visiting us at planDisney, Amanda. I'm sending pixie dust that your family and especially your son have a truly magical vacation!

    Happy Traveling,

GAWRSH! Hiya pals! I am a Goofy-loving mom of 2, who is married to my real-life Prince Charming. My family supports my passion for all things Disney. Walt Disney World was my very first vacation, when I was just 3 months old, and I recently completed my 73rd trip to a Disney location! I have been fortune enough to parasail high above the Disney Fantasy, attend opening day of Batuu, snorkel in the lagoon at Disney's Aulani, and SO MUCH MORE! I can't wait to help you plan your Disney vacation!
