Will my 4 year old son be able to redeem his meals with his bracelet when I am not with him or do we need to provide others with our hotel reservation number? (my inlaws will have him for the day and they arent on our reservations)

Hello April! You've got a great question. If your family is on the Disney Dining Plan you can use your Magic Band to redeem your dining credits even if you are separated. When your in-laws take your son just make sure they know exactly what your Dining Plan entails and what your son can order. They can tell the cashier or server that the child has a dining plan, and at that point they will touch his Magic Band to the scanner. You will not need to provide your Resort reservation number.

Even though most Magic Bands work without fail, I will share with you my last experience with the Dining Plan and Magic Band combination just as a warning. I traveled with my son and mother last summer and we had the Standard Dining Plan. We had some problems with our Magic Bands immediately upon check-in and for the rest of our stay only one Magic Band would work for redeeming Dining Plan credits. That happened to be my son's Magic Band. So when my son and I separated from my mom she couldn't use her Magic Band to redeem her Dining Credits and she decided to pay out of pocket for her meals. Again, most Magic Bands work just as they are designed to work, but as with all technology, Magic Bands can sometimes malfunction, and I just wanted to share with you my experience. All previous times before this particular time our Magic Bands have worked just fine. Always have a back up plan!

I hope this helps, and if you need anything else please feel free to stop by.

Have a magical Walt Disney World vacation!
