Welcome to planDisney, Laura!
I eagerly look forward to returning to
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. While I’m not usually a big beach person, I was captivated by the soft pink-tinted sand and the crystal-clear turquoise water. There was so much to explore that we barely made a dent in all the offerings.
The water was very calm when I visited, but due to Eleuthera's frequently changing sea conditions, snorkeling equipment is only available to guests aged 10 and older. A sign near Flippers & Fins Snorkel Rentals indicates, “Snorkeling is not permitted for individuals under the age of 10.” This might be disappointing, but there’s no shortage of activities for younger adventurers, and kids are still welcome to splash around in the water.
Your six-year-old is sure to enjoy Sebastian’s Cove, a vibrant and secure area created specifically for younger cruisers. It features engaging water play zones, plenty of sand toys for creative fun, and attentive youth counselors who keep the excitement going. Families can also head to the Rush Out Gush Out water play area with two slides and plenty of splash zones. Even I couldn’t resist taking a turn down one of the slides!
At the heart of the island is the Goombay Cultural Center, where you won’t want to miss RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration. Be sure to check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for the entertainment schedule. You’ll learn about the Junkanoo festival and have the opportunity to participate in this cherished Bahamian tradition.
My family had an amazing time crafting our headpieces and learning about the music from talented local artists and performers.
I could go on and on, but part of the joy in exploring a new beach destination is uncovering its hidden gems together as a family. If you have more questions, point your compass back to planDisney, where our crew of experts is ready to help!
SEAS the adventure!
