Our 1 year old niece is showing up as a non-ticket holder for Genie. Is this correct? I know she is a “guest of Mickey” and we don’t need to pay, but I want to be sure we won’t encounter admissions problems.

    Welcome to planDisney, Collette!

You are a few sleeps away from visiting Walt Disney World Resort--how exciting! This will be an unforgettable time with your dear niece. Although she may not remember every moment, you will. And experiencing this adventure through her eyes will be nothing short of magical.

You are correct that your 1-year-old niece is a Guest of Mickey Mouse himself! Guests aged 3 and older need a valid theme park ticket to enjoy the Disney Parks. However, those under the age of 3 receive free admission. From visiting the theme parks and water parks to playing mini golf and enjoying separately ticketed events like Disney After Hours, there are several experiences that tiny Mouseketeers under 3 do not need a ticket for. They also don't need to be included in your Disney Genie+ calculations. Hakuna Matata!

Even though they don't need paid admission, still include them for reservations that need a party count. This includes Disney Resorts Collection hotel and advance dining reservations. When making the reservation on the My Disney Experience App or the Walt Disney World Resort website, include them. This helps the Cast Members know truly how many seats are needed to accommodate your group.

AN EXTRA GEM: Because your niece is young enough to not need paid admission, she can eat for free at all-you-care-to-enjoy table-service restaurants like Garden Grill Restaurant at EPCOT and The Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom Park. I loved that perk when my boys were younger.

Collette, I hope that you have the Most Magical visit with your little one! Please don't hesitate to revisit us here at planDisney if you have additional Disney vacation planning questions. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
