Ahoy Christine,
Thank you for visiting planDisney with your question! We on the panel are happy to help you to prepare for your magical Disney vacation.
There are many things to consider when determining what type of
passports and citizenship documentation you will need when sailing with
Disney Cruise Line. I highly suggest that you go to the link that I provided regarding passports and citizenship documentation, and read that information thoroughly to understand what is needed. I also suggest that you
call Disney Cruise Line and speak with a Cast Member there about your specific situation if you have questions.
Assuming that you are traveling on a round-trip itinerary to the Bahamas and your child is a United States citizen, they do not need a passport. Visit the website I provided above for other options of proof of citizenship for children 15 years of age or younger. Your child will need other documentation, it is just possible that they could use other documentation that is not a passport. Currently this can be a copy of a state-issued birth certificate. Please note that this is different from a hospital-issued birth certificate. Also please note that this information is for United States citizens. The link that I provided also provides information for citizens of countries other than the United States. Also, there are
benefits to having a passport while on a cruise that you might want to consider. Finally, do be sure to check the website for passports and citizenship documentation as these guidelines are subject to change based on government regulations.
Once onboard, be sure that your little one has a chance to check out
Disney's Oceaneer Club. This space created just for children offers amazing immersive fun and programming just for the children onboard. My daughter used to love spending time there when she was younger!
Christine, I hope that this information is helpful for you. Please feel free to sail on back if you have any further questions.
