Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kim!
I can tell you've been busy planning, and your trip will be here before you know it. I bet your Mouseketeers are excited to see their pal, Mickey, soon! I think it's great that your mom is joining you on this trip. Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect vacation for a multigenerational family; it will offer grandma and the kids a great chance to make magical memories.
The
My Disney Experience App has information on accessibility for each attraction. Just pull up the Park map, click on an attraction, and then scroll down to the blue link that says, "
Accessibility & Other Information." Then you'll see one of the three categories:
*Must transfer from wheelchair/ECV to ride vehicle
*Must transfer from ECV to a wheelchair
*Must transfer from ECV to a wheelchair, and from wheelchair to ride vehicle
For some attractions, such as Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, The Hall of Presidents, and Festival of the Lion King, your mom will be able to remain on her ECV throughout the experience, and she can wait in the Standby or FastPass+ queue with other Guests. On many attractions, however, she will need to transfer out of the ECV into a wheelchair. In this case, she'll park her ECV by the attraction's stroller-parking, and a Cast Member will assist her with a wheelchair, after which she can enter the regular queue with your family. Sometimes, will need to transfer from her ECV/wheelchair into the ride, which requires walking a short distance. In a few instances, like on Spaceship Earth and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, there are alternate entrances for disabled Guests. Just tell a Cast Member that your party wants to stay together, and they should accommodate you. If you or your mom have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email: disability.services@disneyparks.com.
Have a great trip, Kim! I'll be in the Parks at the same time, so say hello if you see me. See ya real soon!
