My 5 year old loves the Lion King and I would like to know how they pick the children to sing and dance on the stage floor during Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom.

    Hi Melissa,

Hakuna Matata!  Disney's Festival of the Lion King is one of my all time favorite shows too. I am transported to the Pride Lands each time I experience it.  Now that Festival of the Lion King has a new home in the Harambe Theater this Broadway quality show is more spectacular than ever.

As with most spontaneous magic, there is no formula for being picked as a participant for a show.  My children have been picked to participate at some times and not others.  It appears to me that the children who are eager and engaged stand more of a chance of being picked.  My family likes arriving early so that we can sit within the first 3 or 4 rows and I usually seat my children towards the end of the bench so that it is easier for them to exit if they are chosen.  Even when my children are not picked to participate, the theater-in-the-round experience is magical and every seat in the house promises a roaring good view.
