My 13 year old loves the decoration of Disneyworld but not the experience of the thrill rides. Is there anyway she can see the line decorations of the Tower of Terror but not get in the Elevator?.

Absolutely! I completely understand your daughter’s love for the theming, architecture and ambiance of the attractions at Walt Disney World. Some of the best scenes are enjoyed not on the actual ride but in the queues.

I sometimes skip the thrill rides too (it seems as I get older, I get more motion sick) but I don’t like to miss the places where the Imagineers have done their best work. For instance, I love the queue of the Kali River Rapids in the Animal Kingdom. My “boys” (husband and son) love this ride even on a cold winter day. When it’s time to enter the ride, I stay warm and leave via the exit while my boys go on their cool journey.

The queue of Tower of Terror is brilliant. “A dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind.”

For the Tower of Terror, the “chicken” exit works like this:
When you reach the Cast Member loading the ride elevators, tell the bellhop that you are not riding today.

Don’t be alarmed. You have to actually get on a normal elevator to exit without riding. That is a bit unnerving, don’t you think?! Just realize that there are no seats, so it’s truly a normal elevator and all is okay. This is due to the exit being actually one floor lower than where you enter. This express elevator is also the handicapped entrance.

You will then proceed to the area where the ride photos are displayed. There are actually benches to sit on while waiting for the rest of your party to return from the Twilight Zone. You will then depart via the gift shop. It’ll come as no surprise that I sometimes browse the shop while waiting.

    Enjoy the old, luxury hotel!
