We have a 12 year old that loves animation and drawing but I see that this activity is scheduled for the age group up to 10 years of age. Would he be able to participate along with his younger siblings?

    Hi, Margaret!

There is so much fun to be had in the various youth clubs that there is no way to list it all!  Entertainment is the name of the game aboard Disney Cruise Line, and of course, creative play (such as animation and art) is a cornerstone of many children's activities -- most especially when you mix in some Disney magic!

In Edge -- where your 12-year-old more than likely will feel most comfortable -- there are activities and events catered to his specific age group which may include an animator's class (on his level). The great thing about the teen areas is that the counselors gear the offerings based on the particular group of guests on board for that sailing.  They get to know the kids and offer choices based on their interests.  My advice (and my 11-year-old son's advice) is to visit Edge at the Open House on Embarkation Day, and make sure you let the counselors know of your son's interests.  They love to find out about their tween guests and help tailor their experience.

In addition, sometimes animation and drawing sessions are offered to all guests, and they are held in a common area. If your son has a keen interest in animation, my guess is that what is offered in the younger kids' areas may be beneath his skill level, and something offered to older kids or even adults may challenge and fascinate him more. So, stay tuned once you're on board and be sure and study your Personal Navigator each day to look for those opportunities.

I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
