Hi Jacalyn,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I’m so happy to hear you’re planning to spend some time at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort on your upcoming vacation. I find the natural setting and pioneer theme of this resort to be so beautiful and relaxing, and there is so much to do and see!
We recently surprised our daughter with her first horseback ride at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch for her birthday, and she had an amazing time. She had always dreamed of riding a horse, and she says that having her first ride at Walt Disney World is something she will always remember. You know your daughter best, so you’ll know whether she will be comfortable riding with a guide and a small group of other Guests. My daughter can be a little bashful, so my husband rode with her, but a rider who meets the height, weight, and age
horseback riding requirements is able to ride without a parent. You’ll be with her as she gets her helmet and mounts the horse, and then the group will ride away for 45 minutes of peaceful riding through the resort’s beautiful trails. The guide will ride close to the more inexperienced riders; the guide with my daughter shared great Disney stories and tips, which put her at ease and made the experience extra-special.
Pioneer Hall, where
Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue is located, is a short bus trip away from the horseback riding area. The buses run very frequently, and you’ll love seeing the campsites (you might even see some cool decorations) and scenery. Once you arrive, you are in for a hilarious show – be sure to try the strawberry shortcake!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
