My 2 year old granddaughter turns 3 mid trip to Disneyland. Do I need to purchase a ticket for her?

Hi there, Aimee! Welcome to planDisney. There is nothing sweeter than seeing little ones at the Disneyland Resort. Since becoming a mom, I’ve always wanted to share my love of the parks with my son, and getting to see my happy place through his eyes is a true joy. I’d love to help you do the same with your granddaughter on this upcoming visit.

While your granddaughter is still 2 years old, she won’t need a ticket, as Guests ages 2 and under don't require a ticket or a theme park reservation. However, on the day she turns 3 years old, she’ll need both a valid child’s ticket and a theme park reservation to enter either park. This means you’ll need to purchase a ticket for her for any days of your visit when she is 3 years old.

If you’re coming during the summer, there is a Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer beginning May 22 through September 7, 2026. With this limited-time offer, children ages 3 to 9 can visit both Disneyland Resort theme parks for $50 per child with the purchase of a special 1-Day Park Hopper Ticket. I’m definitely planning to take advantage of this awesome deal, as I recently took my son on his last Disneyland visit as a 2 year old. While it’s bittersweet to know that my not-so-little guy is growing up, it’s exciting to look ahead to him riding some of our favorite attractions, like Radiator Springs Racers and Big Thunder Mountain.

Aimee, thank you so much for coming to planDisney with your question. I hope this information helps as you continue planning your upcoming trip with your granddaughter. I still look back often on the memories I made going to Disneyland with my grandmother as a little girl, and it is truly heartwarming. I’m sure your granddaughter will look back on these wonderful memories as she gets older. If you have any more questions while planning your trip, planDisney is always here to help!
