Hi there, Camillia! Welcome to planDisney. As Walt Disney said himself on the opening day of Disneyland, it’s a happy place for all ages! With that being said, a 2 year old can certainly visit The Happiest Place on Earth. I’d love to walk you through what I’ve done with my son when he was 2 years old to ensure your visit is as magical as ever!
Whatever your park-going preference may be, Disneyland truly has something for everyone. As a teacher, I’ve had students tell me they visited Disneyland, with pictures to prove it, as young as 1 month old. While you’re not exactly riding the Incredicoaster at that age, there’s something even for the littlest Mouseketeers at the parks!
My son’s first visit was a few weeks after his first birthday. I was definitely in uncharted territory visiting with a little one of my own. Looking back on the chaos, nothing is more magical than seeing Disneyland through the eyes of a child! It brings me happy tears just thinking back to the special memories of that first visit.
We found ourselves utilizing the
Baby Care Centers throughout our visit. It was a great place to change diapers, use the toddler toilets now that he’s in potty training mode, feed, and recharge away from the hustle and bustle that can be overwhelming for little ones. I loved using the padded changing stations because the ceiling fan above was a great distraction, as most little ones love!
If you take a look at the list of
attractions for both Disneyland and California Adventure, you can filter by type, interest, and age to see what is suitable for your 2 year old to ride. We found the Fantasyland attractions were our favorites due to not needing to meet a height restriction and typically moving at a slower pace, perfect for little ones.
If your 2 year old needs to get their wiggles out, we never miss out on
Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard over in
Toontown! It is my son’s favorite place to run around and play inside Goofy’s house, where there are interactive elements for endless fun. You’re also within range of character meet and greets over at Mickey’s and Minnie’s houses. Even within the play area, we’ve seen Clarabelle and Horace Horsecollar out and about!
Camillia, thank you so much for visiting planDisney! I hope this gave you an idea of planning a visit to the parks with a 2 year old. Have a wonderful time and soak in all the moments. Before you know it, they’ll be tall enough for Space Mountain! If you have any more questions for us, planDisney is always here for you!
With a Sprinkle of Pixie Dust,
Bev
