My 6 year old and I will be doing our second mommy/daughter trip in September. After an afternoon rest, what tips do you have for making the most of extended evening hours at Epcot for two thrill-seeking Mouseketeers? Thanks!

    Hello there, Jessica!

Just as Tangled’s Mother Gothel sings, I’m a firm believer that Mother knows best when it comes to planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I’ve learned to plan Walt Disney World trips thanks to guidance from my mother and a few mother-daughter (and even grandmother) vacations over the years, and I love that you are also taking the time to make these special memories.

Like you, I’m also a thrill-seeking theme park attraction lover, so I’m excited to hear that you’re planning on taking advantage of the extended evening hours available on select nights in select theme parks when you stay at a Disney Deluxe Resort or other select hotels. First, to take advantage of the extended evening theme park hours, check the Hours & Events Calendar as you get closer to your vacation to check the theme park, days and times of operation, and attraction availability, as the dates for your visit have not been released yet and they are subject to change without notice. Next, get familiar with what attractions are planned to operate in each theme park.

To be totally honest, I don’t think there is a wrong strategy for getting the most out of extended evening hours. You’ll find that you can go on so many of your favorite attractions during this time, and sometimes you can go on attractions multiple times in a row. Based on the current list of attractions planned to be available during extended evening hours, I recommend joining the virtual queue at 6:00 p.m. for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. At this time, there is no standby queue option for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but if you’re visiting EPCOT earlier in the day, you could potentially get a virtual queue at 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.!

If you can get on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind shortly after you book your virtual queue, I recommend going to Test Track, Soarin’ Around the World, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, and wrapping up with Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo & Friends. This way, you start and end near the EPCOT entrance, and you’ll walk around the World Showcase in between. I only listed my personal favorite attractions, but you can’t go wrong with participating in any of the other attractions on the list.

May the magic be with you!
