Can my 9 year old daughter get a waiver to go Edge – Ages 11–14 with her 11 year old brother on the cruise?

Hello there, Poma! Welcome to our magical corner of planDisney!

Your Disney cruise will be here before you know it, and I’m absolutely pumped for you! The Halloween season is one of my favorite Disney cruise seasons because it’s such a fun time on board! As a mom whose kiddos have practically grown up on board Disney Cruise Line, my kids have spent so much time in the Youth Clubs! Therefore, I would be happy to answer your question regarding the Youth Clubs on board.

Each of the Youth Clubs on Disney Cruise Line adheres to strict age guidelines during Operating Hours. The age guidelines during Operating Hours for each Youth Club are:

During Operating Hours, a waiver might be allowed in Edge for a tween who is 10 years old, but not 9 years old. I know this from my own experience, also having a 9-year-old and 11-year-old on board. While I was unable to get a waiver signed for my daughter when she was 9, I was able to get one for her when she was 10, and thus she and her sister were both able to hang out in Edge together during Operating Hours. Also, please note that all offerings are always subject to change.

However, all hope is not lost! All of the Youth Clubs have Open House hours daily, where any guest of any age can come in, play, and hang out. This is a great option for families wishing to experience the Youth Clubs together, and it’s what we did when my kids were in different Youth Clubs, including when they were 9 and 11. We could visit both Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Edge together. This could be a great option for your family as well! You can find the Open House hours in the “Daily Plans” section of the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App

Lastly, besides just being in the Youth Clubs on board, I want to put you on to the multitude of activities that are available for tweens on board. I have a tween and a teen now, and they’ve especially loved the trivia games, deck parties, Learn to Draw, and karaoke sessions. There’s so much to do together on board, and it can all be found in the “Daily Plans” section of the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App.

Poma, I hope that I offered many opportunities for your kiddos to enjoy some fun sibling time together on board! I wish your family many wonderful memories! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any further questions.
