Hi, our 12 year old daughter will unexpectedly need to use a wheelchair during the extent of our stay. Will PO - Riverside be able to provide one for her to use for the duration of our stay? Can you offer any other tips on how to make her trip successful?

    Hi Margaret ~

Life comes at you fast sometimes but no worries - you'll still have an amazing time! Disney World has made the parks and resorts very accessible for Guests in wheelchairs.

Some Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have complimentary wheelchairs for Guests to use. They require a $315.00 refundable deposit (the amount is always subject to change without notice). The wheelchairs available at the resorts are very limited so there may or may not be one available.

There are wheelchair rentals available in the parks. If your daughter will need to use a wheelchair outside of the theme parks, your best bet may be to rent one from a local vender. There are several companies that offer wheelchair rentals. You can find the numbers for some local companies at the bottom of the Wheelchair Rentals link on the Disney World website. These companies will deliver and pick up the wheelchair from your resort.

Here is some information regarding Guests traveling in wheelchairs that may assist you. Be sure to download a Guide for Guests with Disabilities (shown at the bottom of that page). There is one for each theme park. You can also pick one up at Guest Relations at each theme park.

If you have made Advanced Dining Reservations, be sure to contact 407-WDW-DINE to let them know that one of the people in your dining party will now be using a wheelchair. You may also want to call Port Orleans Riverside to request a ground floor room.

I am limited in space but please feel free to visit again with all of your planning questions.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
