My 4 and 1/2 year old daughter is a little concerned about seeing the "scary" characters from the Disney movies while we're at Disney World. Do you have any suggestions about rides or places to avoid/parades that may have the scary characters?

Hi Jane, I answered a very similar question not too long ago. Your sweetie is referring to the villains from the movies. I'll give you ideas by Park on what to avoid. Please know that Mickey & the "good guys" always win in the end though. In addition, she really won't be getting close to the villains (she'd be seeing them from a distance).

Hollywood Studios: If she's concerned about villains (which is understandable), then you should plan on avoiding the Fantasmic show. Essentially, Mickey encounters many of the Disney villains in that show & it can be a little frightening for preschoolers.

The Sea Witch makes an appearance in the Ariel show & The Witch from Wizard of Oz is on the Great Movie Ride briefly.

Magic Kingdom: "Snow White's Scary Adventures" lives up to it's name. The wicked queen is seen several times. It follows the storyline of the movie. My little girls weren't fond of that ride until at least age 6.

Avoid Stitch ride, even though there aren't witches, it's a bit "dark".

Stage Shows & Parades: Sometimes the shows in the front of  the Castle (which are amazing, by the way) do have some of the villains. In addition, you may see several villains in the parades.

Captain Hook is on the Peter Pan ride. Avoid Haunted Mansion for the ghosts & overall scary theme.

Epcot: The only thing here at all that I can think of is the troll on the Maelstrom. It's a boat ride in Norway in the World Showcase. The ride is a lot of fun, there's just a troll at one point.

Animal Kingdom: Avoid "It's Tough To Be a Bug" if she doesn't like bugs. Also, Dinosaur: She may be too small for it anyway, but I figured I'd mention it. Skip this ride, it's down right scary.

That's all of the "scary" things that I can think of. For the most part, Disney is filled with pretty Princesses, lovable characters & happy heroes. Have a Magical vacation!
