My 4 year old daughter is completely in love with the movie Babes in Toyland. We are planning a trip to Disney World for her 5th birthday at the beginning of December. Is there anywhere she can see anything at all relating to this movie in the parks?

    Hi Adria! Welcome to planDisney!

Your daughter is going to have the BEST birthday! I can’t think of anywhere better to celebrate than the Walt Disney World Resort. Make sure to ask for a birthday celebration button when you arrive. Wearing it around the theme parks often brings a few “Happy Birthday!” wishes from Cast Members and Guests. It all adds to the magic!

Your question brought a huge smile to my face! I adored the movie Babes in Toyland growing up. Well, if I’m being honest, I love it now, too! Who knows how many hours of my childhood were spent imagining I was Mary, swooning over Tom, and pretending to escape the Forest of No Return. It warms my heart to know that your daughter probably knows all the words to “Castle in Spain” like I do!

While “I Can’t Do the Sum” to figure out many nods to the movie at the Walt Disney World Resort, I do have a few ideas for you! The fact you are visiting during the holiday season is PERFECT because the biggest contribution from Babes in Toyland that you’ll find is that the Toyland Soldiers that typically make their appearance in Magic Kingdom Park for Christmas festivities are exact replicas from the movie! I found a great Disney Parks Blog article that gives some fun facts about the Toyland Soldiers and linked it for you above. I’ve also been reminded of the movie while sailing through “it’s a small world” thanks to the colors and shapes that resemble many parts of the film.

“Just a Whisper Away” from Magic Kingdom Park is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. If you walk the hall between the lobby and Capt. Cook’s in the Great Ceremonial House, the walls are lined with pictures of Annette Funicello, also known as Mary Quite Contrary. Even though this isn’t specifically Babes in Toyland, it still might spark your daughter’s interest to see her familiar face! While you’re there, I vote you “Drink a Lemonade” to toast Tom and Mary.

I hope this helps bring a touch of Babes in Toyland to your extra special trip, Adria! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
