Hi there, Linda!
Welcome aboard! Sailing with a mini Mouseketter is so much fun. Everyone in your party needs to have the right documents for a smooth voyage, so let's dive right in!
The travel documents required for sailing can vary a bit depending on the itinerary you choose. For a round-trip cruise leaving from the USA, both adults and children are required to bring either:
- An original state-issued birth certificate (and a physical government-issued photo ID for guests ages 16 and over)
- An original, valid US Passport or US Passport Card
While not all itineraries require a passport, I do highly recommend that you get passports if possible. There are many
benefits to traveling with a passport and it's the best document you can have if something happens during your trip. One of my favorite Disney characters is Edna Mode from
The Incredibles and she always says "Luck favors the prepared!" That's pretty much my vacation planning motto!
A Disney Cruise is such an awesome choice with a young kiddo because there are tons of things you can enjoy together, but also things that your child can do all on their own!
My kids loved Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab, and we had a lot of fun on the pool deck and enjoying the evening entertainment. While my kids played in the clubs my husband and I were able to enjoy the adult-exclusive areas for some quiet time and an amazing brunch at Palo. The perfect mix of adventure and relaxing, all in one vacation!
If you have more questions about choosing an itinerary, a ship, or a stateroom I hope you'll sail back over, Linda!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
